M-School title: Video Intern
Post-secondary institution: Loyalist College
Program of study: Photojournalism
I enjoyed m-school for a number of reasons. One of the main reasons was that I was given a lot of responsibilities. After a week of adjusting, I was constantly working, sometimes shooting on location for 5 days in a row. It really gave me the opportunity to learn things quite fast. Secondly, the team here at video publishing is really great and supportive. There is no hierarchy here. Everyone treats you like one of their own and not as just some summer intern. Surrounded by these talented and down-to-earth people made this experience that much more enjoyable.
What were your primary tasks?
- To shoot and edit videos for a wide range of Rogers publishing brands, including Maclean’s, Sportsnet and Today’s Parent
Describe one day in the workplace.
My days can be quite different from each other, from shooting an interview with Penny Olesiak for Sportsnet to editing batches of recipe videos for Chatelaine.
What is your dream job?
I don’t have a specific job that I dream about. But I always dream about using my skills and talent to help people that are voiceless.
