M-School title: Video Intern
Post-secondary institution: Centennial College
Program of study: Broadcasting – Radio, Television, Film & Digital Media
M-School gave me the opportunity to learn more about myself. As my first step in the door of the industry M-School was a safe place to try new things which helped me learn my likes and dislikes professionally. Another thing I enjoyed about the program is that as an M-School intern nobody actually treats you like an intern, instead you get treated like a regular staff member. The weekly sessions gave me an in-depth look behind the scenes of the corporate industry and made me realize how many departments I never knew existed but are crucial to keeping things going. Now that M-School is finishing I feel much more comfortable and confident going out into the industry.
What were your primary tasks?
- To shoot and edit videos for the various Rogers publishing brands.
Describe one day in the workplace.
Whether there was a shoot, or I was simply editing at my desk, there was never a day exactly the same. I would travel to wherever the shoot was taking place, set up, test and shoot. Pack up then I would come back to the office to unpack and load footage into the computer.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to work either broadcasting, filming or editing aspects of the entertainment industry such as concerts, interviews and live events.
