M-School title: Video Intern
Post-secondary institution: Carleton University
Program of study: Journalism
One great thing about this job is the vast amount of subjects and types of videos I was exposed to. One day I may have been editing a “How-To” video, and the next I could be shooting on-field in front of a packed crowd at the Rogers Centre.
What were your primary tasks?
- Shooting and editing videos for all Rogers Publishing brands.
Describe one day in the workplace.
It’s cliche to say, but there really isn’t a typical day with the video team. Work flow is largely dependent on upcoming deadlines, shoot schedules and the variety of projects on the go. If there’s a deadline approaching, I’ll probably spend the day at my desk, editing and crafting a story on my computer. If I’m assigned a shoot, I’m probably out of the office and could be anywhere in southern Ontario with a camera and a bunch of lenses.
What is your dream job?
One day, I want to be shooting and directing feature-length documentaries.
